Super sturdy, super fast, super functional! It’s way better than Cuisinart.
The Cuisinart I had for many years suddenly started breaking down in the last few months. The plastic bowl and other pieces began chipping off and cracking to where it was way too dangerous to use. I had thought they gave a lifetime warranty but not so. In any event, I purchased the Breville for our vacation home and found it vastly superior to the Cuisinart. The size is bigger but not too big. It’s simple to use. I could spend an hour figuring out all the different functions on this food processor. It has numerous speeds, attachments, and so on. It’s about 75% quieter than my Vitamix! I use it to shred good quality hard cheeses in seconds. I make salad dressings with it. I mince habanero peppers and hot chiles in it so I don’t burn my eyes. The possibilities are endless and I’m looking forward to trying out more functions.

Worth Every Penny for the Quality and Design
I bought this Breville Sous Chef 16 for my mom, and she absolutely loves it. It’s powerful yet surprisingly quiet, and she noticed right away how easy it is to clean with no cracks or joints where food can get trapped. The attachments store neatly, and everything feels solid and well-made.

Beautiful but Very Heavy
So far, I am happy with my new food processor. After our two-year-old Kitchenaid food processor died, we quickly had to do some research. While I loved my old Kitchenaid, the plunger shattered, getting plastic in the food and making us quite unhappy, we couldn’t buy replacement parts. After researching and reading reviews by Consumer Reports, we decided to take the plunge and buy the Breville Sous Chef 16. As an older Millennial, I will be the first to admit I nearly had a panic attack buying this food processor since I never imagined I would pay $500 for a small Kitchen Appliance. Part of what made us take the plunge was the fact that we could buy replacement parts for just about everything for this unit, and it had one of the best warranties I could find, with 2 years on parts and 30 years on the motor. While I wasn’t thrilled about the price, my engineer was saying he was done with how Kitchenaid has been lately.Once this unit arrived, I was very happy with what I spent the money on. This machine is a true beast! It has a sleek, beautiful design and comes with so many different parts that it could easily replace other kitchen items (yay for space back in my kitchen). I love getting the extra 3 cups of space compared to my Kitchenaid food processor, and I love that it comes with a little bowl for smaller projects. It is also very powerful, able to handle projects with better care and truly chops things as I want them to be chopped (not just pureed if you aren’t careful).My only complaint with the Breville Sous Chef 16 is that it is very difficult to move. The base weighs about 30 pounds, and even the parts container is pretty heavy. This must be something that lives on your counter since it is just a big monster. If you use it all the time (I do), this is good, but if you want something you can store away, you are not moving this thing quickly or easily. With power, we also have a considerable weight, so I shouldn’t complain. As long as it lasts, it is a worthy tradeoff!

Not worth the $$$
I really wanted to love this product but it was absolutely not worth the money. The number of cons far outweighs the pros. FIRST, there is only one speed. SECOND, for the engine supposedly being so powerful, it constantly turns itself off for ‘motor overload protection’. This happens everytime I use the dough blade for mixing bread, no matter what the quantity in the bowl – 4 cups AND 10 cups. I’ve never had this happen with any other food processor I’ve owned. THIRD, it doesn’t actually mince things very finely. Like for pesto, the remaining leaf size isn’t that small or consistent, my old Cuisinart did better. FOURTH all the peices are pretty irregularly shaped and interlocking which makes it very hard to clean. When I run it through the dishwasher and there are always left overs in the nooks & crannies which forces me to then hand wash AFTER going through the dishwasher. FIFTH, if you want to use the ‘mini’ bowl it actually fits inside the larger bowl, leaving about an 1” of the larger bowl exposed to the contents. This means if you use the ‘mini’ bowl you have wash the mini AND the large bowl. How poorly designed is that!?The one upside is that it’s really, impressively quiet. Is that worth the ~$300 up cost from its Cuisinart counterpart? Absolutely not. Not when the laundry list of poor functionality is so long.

This is a monstrously big food processor. I’ve only made bread dough with mine…so far…and it worked beautifully! Extremely quiet. The only problem I’ve had with it is finding a place to store it and the attachments. Otherwise, it works like a dream.

Blows away our old processor
Little pricey but like night and day versus our previous $100 processor that died. This thing turns a large potato into perfect fries in about 1 second (processes way faster than you can possibly feed it). Blades are amazing quality and motor is 3x more powerful than most processors. Really heavy but feels made to last (why it’s heavy). Won’t ever go back to bargain/cheap processors again. Love the quality case for the blades and hooks. Easy to feed and easy to clean up.

Good unit
Easy to handle, the box was compact and not heavy, as a couple people commented. Wifey was able to handle it with ease. It’s a powerful unit and very pleased. Made French fries as the first, they look better than restaurants and were perfect. If you’re on the fence just buy it. It’s rated number one in food processors in a few websites. Rated less for the manual

I am ready to make some soup.
I previously owned the 800 model. I already like the different size feed chutes. The motor is relatively quiet. As expected it does it’s many jobs very well. The owners manual does say to limit washing the bowls and lids in the dishwasher. It is big and heavy. Nice case for blades.
