2-IN-1 DETECTION: Alerts you to both smoke & carbon monoxide (CO) using a single, cost-effective detector.
HARDWIRED & 2 AA BATTERY BACKUP (Included): Operates on 120V AC wiring (installed in the ceiling) with 2 AA alkaline batteries that provide battery backup coverage during power outages.
ENHANCED SENSING TECHNOLOGY: Reduces false smoke alarms often caused by cooking. Comprehensively tested to meet the latest UL standards, meets UL 217 9th Edition, UL 2034 4th Edition, & FCC standards.
INTERCONNECT CAPABILITY: When one alarm sounds, they all sound, so you can get out faster. (Different models offer different interconnection options and requirements. See User Guide for more info.)
SELF-TESTING ALARM: Internal components ensure alarm is always operating as expected. Not a substitute for a manual push test, perform a button test once per week to verify alarm operation.
3 LED NOTIFICATIONS: LED lights indicate alarm status, green = normal operation, amber = operating error, red = smoke or carbon monoxide detected & a loud 85-decibel alarm will sound.
TEST & HUSH BUTTON: Makes it easy to test the 5-inch combination detector and silence false alarms, should they occur.
10-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY: Warranty begins when the alarm is powered on. If that date is unknown, it should be assumed that alarms should be replaced.

Well made, works perfectly right after install
I purchased 3 Kiddie Smoke detectors and 2 Kiddie CO/Smoke detectors, all hardwired with AA battery backup. Installed all of them rather easily with the exception of having to rewire the plugs as they changed the end piece from my 10 year old Kiddie detectors, but this too was easily done. Fits on the same baseplates. They all interconnected perfectly. I tested the included backup batteries prior to install and they were all fully charged. Pushed the test button on one unit and they all briefly alarmed, then shut off by themselves. I’ll report back if I get any false alarms or low battery alarms, but these units seem very well made. Please remember to write the install date on the included sticker as the 10-year lifespan starts with the date you power them up, not the manufacture date.

Easy swap out with older chirping model
I read numerous reviews of how the newer Kiddie units had a totally incompatible base plate, with older models. That was not the case with these. Exact same base plate and took me all of 10 minutes to change out both of them, even with the rewiring of the new plug.Yes there is a new style plug, so you will have to swap out the pig tailed connectors. If you’ve even a basic understanding of diy work, this won’t be a problem. No need to call an electrician, unless you have no idea what your doing. In that case do call someone better qualified than yourself. The added plus is the AA batteries verses the expensive 9volts. These went on quickly, easily an worked like a charm. No more chirping. The only downside – an Amazon problem – was that they were delivered in a large paper envelope. The individual product boxes were partially crushed and one of the detectors was halfway out of the box. For items like this, with circuit boards or electronics, they should be put in a box, not a crushable bag. Amazon is ridiculous in their choice of packaging. These $100 detectors come in a paper envelop, but socks will be in a box 5 times too large.

Easy to install
This product was a replacement for a 10 year old smoke and carbon monoxide detector. I replaced 5 units in less than 15 minutes. Worked out perfectly.

Amazon to the rescue
11pm at night. Smoke Alarms go off, no fire. Try changing batteries. If not, order these from Amazon and they arrive in the morning. Easy to install, be careful burning the bacon. Had three different alarms before now all are the same with no extra tools or wiring. Thank you Amazon.

Great upgrade
The quality seems far better than it’s predecessor, from the design of the detector to make it more efficient to detect to the ability to sync to other detectors in the home it looks like it’s worth the money. The base plate didn’t change so that was great no fussing with changing out mounting plate if you stick with the Kidde brand. The only flaw is the upgrade to the wiring which only added a few minutes to install and it seems like a better more sleek design so I didn’t think it was worth deducting a point. Would recommend.

It was easier than I thought to install
Instead of paying an electrician to replace my six Kidde smoke alarms for over 600 dollars, I decided to replace them myself with the new smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. I did have to change the mounting plate with the new one that entailed loosening two screws. I also bought the wire adapters since my old units were 13 years old and the wire attachments have changed. I did NOT have to do the wiring by using the adapters. I simply had to attach one end into the old wire pin and then slide the other end into the new unit. It took about 10 minutes/unit. Saved about 300 to 400 dollars and the units work great with the testing. Very satisfied.

Excellent replacement detectors
I ordered 4 of these to replace my 10-year old Kidde interconnected voice smoke/carbon dioxide detectors. The old ones were at end of life and they were making a big, annoying fuss about it. These are the current equivalent to my previous units. The power plug is different unfortunately, Kidde did drop the ball there. They were easy enough to switch out though, just unscrew the existing wire nuts and reinstall with the new wire harness. The mounting plate is the same size as the units being replaced so no paint touchup was required. The new units themselves are slightly smaller however. A nice upgrade these new ones feature is the AA battery backup rather than the expensive 9V battery backup, a welcome change. All 4 of the new units I purchased tested good and are working fine. No false alarms or issues yet. I will update this review if anything changes. Oh, and a great price here on Amazon as compared to local big box stores.
