YOU’VE GOT ENOUGH ON YOUR PLATE, let Yale get the door with the Yale Assure Lock 2. With multiple ways to unlock, the ability to easily share and track entry codes and advanced Auto-Lock with DoorSense(R), this Wi-Fi smart lock gives you one less thing to worry about. With built-in Wi-Fi, you can easily check that the door is locked, see if the dog walker came on time and receive a notification when the kids get home from school when you’re away from home, using the Yale Access App.
KEY-FREE ACCESS, YOUR WAY: Everyone that needs access can choose their own way to unlock, whether it’s the keypad, voice assistant, Auto-Unlock or the Yale Access App on your smartphone or Apple Watch.
DON’T WORRY, IT’S LOCKED: Never worry again about remembering to lock the door. Yale can be set to Auto-Lock once DoorSense detects that the door is closed.
NOT HOME. USE THE APP: We know that even when you’re not home, it’s still on your mind, and your to-do list. Lock-up, let someone in, receive notifications and share access from anywhere using the Yale Access App. This product will not operate outside the US and Canada.
EXPECTING COMPANY. Share unlimited codes with family, friends, and service people for simple, trackable access to your home, using the Yale Access App, so you’ll never hide a key again.
LET YALE AUTO-UNLOCK: For those times when your hands are full, Yale can get the door as you get home. With optional Auto-Unlock, you won’t need to touch the lock, or your phone.
SECURITY YOU CAN TRUST: Two-factor authentication, biometric verification and matte keypads for fingerprint resistance provide added security. So, you know only the right people have access, at the right time.
NO LOCKSMITH NEEDED: The lock replaces your deadbolt on most standard US entry doors using just a screwdriver; no DIY experience required.
WORKS WITH APPLE HOME: Easily manage the lock along with your smart lighting, speakers, thermostats and more, all from the Apple Home app or using Siri. Access remotely when you have an Apple TV, iPad or HomePod set up as a hub.
COMPLETELY HANDS-FREE: Don’t get off the couch or pick up your phone – simply ask your voice assistant to unlock your door using Amazon Alexa, Hey Google or Siri
KNOW WHO COMES AND GOES: When you’re not home, track who and when people come and go through the app’s activity feed, or with app notifications.

Terrible Company, Do NOT Buy the Keyless Version
Some lessons are learned the hard way and I should have known better than to buy an electronic lock without a backup key. I bought FOUR of the keyless version for a new build. Setup was easy, if you know how to hold a screwdriver you will be fine. Setup with the app is also easy, however for each lock something minor would go wrong – sometimes the calibration would fail and you just have to redo it, sometimes it would lose connection with the lock, sometimes a step would take forever and I would put my phone down for a minute and do something else. It wasn’t a problem until I got to the last lock, and it somehow froze during the setup process. I thought to myself it’s not a big deal, something went wrong every other time and they worked just fine (the first two locks I had actually installed months prior and they were fine). Not this time, however. When I re-opened the app, the app had saved the last lock with a default name that was the same as the main lock to the guest house that I had installed months ago. Well guess what – for some reason now the app wasn’t working with either lock, and the guest house was locked with no way in.I called customer support. Their answer – there is nothing we can do about this. Drill the lock. That’s what they told me to do. Unbelievable. Oh, and they refused to refund me for the locks, my time, a locksmith, or the door should it break. They offered to let me apply for a warranty claim. When I asked if I could at least get the version with the backup key, they said “that is not possible”. Best part is, I was able to actually drill into the lock and open the door, despite having no idea what I was really doing, without putting a scratch on the door itself.I immediately removed all 4 locks and threw them in the trash and they are being replaced with something that has a backup key from another company who keypad locks I have had forever without any issue. I would never risk buying something from this company again.

Doesn’t play with other apps – no help available
I had the keyless version (which I loved) but had a user who needed a physical key, so bought the key version. It took me about 10 minutes to do the physical swap.I broke a nail trying to insert the plug — it’s at a terrible angle. The battery compartment is the single worse I’ve encountered – I felt I was going to break the battery cover prying it up, and it’s a weird configuration to save vertical space, but requires inserting them two deep — I hope the batteries last a long time! There are components including a “smart module” and “doorsense” that has two options of installation – neither are explained (I later learned the smart module is how the lock can connect to Wi-Fi and doorsense can determine if the door is open or closed).Setting up the Yale app was a breeze, but that’s when it all went south. I struggled connecting to any other app. My other Yale – which seemed the exact same just keyless – seamlessly connected to Alexa and Google Nest – Alexa won’t let me enable the skill because it can’t log into the Yale app (I reset my email and password, and still nothing). Google won’t let me install without using Nest, and the lock isn’t compatible with Nest. It says it’s compatible with HomeKit, but Apple killed HoneKit and I couldn’t connect. There’s just no way connecting a lock to any of these should be hard. Waited for 10 minutes on Support which said they had a one minute hold time – I give up.If you need a keyed lock or are okay using only the Yale app for remote entry, this is fine. If you want to integrate with your smart home get a different lock altogether — the keyless version works.

Fine lock but look elsewhere for wifi
This wouldn’t connect to wifi. I thought at first I received a defective product, these things happen, so I ordered another since the wifi functionality is something i specifically wanted. This one also will not connect to wifi. Thinking I somehow received a second defective product I bought another wifi module to put in. That also didn’t work. That’s 3 different wifi units that absolutely will not connect to our wifi. I have a number of wifi devices around the house, including much much further away from the router than this lock is, and every one of them will connect without issue. Computers, security cameras, doorbell cameras, TVs, etc. I know how to get these stupid IoT devices online (yes, some do 2.4GHz, some do 5 GHz, that’s not the issue). I went around and around and around with customer service from Yale, who were all wonderful and kind people, too no avail. 4 different phones, iPhone and android, nothing will make this stupid lock get online. As a keypad lock it’s great, but I bought it for the wifi and I still have no wifi connectivity. If I could return it I would, but its been to long so now I’ll have to probably just save some money and get the Wyze lock. Never had a problem with anything from Wyze and I’d expect their wifi locks actually connect to wifi.

Seems to work fine for me in Australia, although I do have the ability to download US App Store apps as I used to live there and have an account still – has anyone tried creating an account in the US App Store? Another thing to try: I noticed that the app is exactly the same as the app used by my August door lock – in fact when I added the lock to the Yale Access app, it also added it to the August lock app and both work interchangeably – might be work try as a back door hack.

Do NOT purchase this item unless you have a US or Canadian mobile number. This product can only be activated using a US and Canadian mobile number.I contacted Yale support and they advised that Amazon Germany should NOT be selling this item. The Yale support could not activate the lock for me since it is NOT part of the European product range. Do not be fooled by the shop front Amazon Germany are showing. It is NOT a yale shop, as confirmed by Yale contact support. Amazon Germany offered that I can return the product, however I had already installed the lock and made the necessary holes in the door.
