Best carrier-kennel I could find for aging pet and new puppy!
the floor grate to cover, and prevent chewing of, pee pads, is worth the price. But wait, there is more! the quick latches, while not designed work alone during transport to hold your animal’s weight while lifting the carrier, is perfect for fast access for cleaning (think geriatric or pediatric animals who may have multiple OOPS inside the carrier.) The bottom half of the carrier is solid, so it does no leak. The floor grate elevates the pet above any liquid messes (spilled water, urine, or loose stools) and prevents bored/resentful chewing of liquid absorbing pads. a bidet/diaper sprayer, a power scrub brush, and shop towels make cleaning and drying the grate easy. the quick latches allow speedy disassembly if the inside of the crate requires clean up (again a power scrub brush, sprayer and shop towels make for a speedy clean up. the top door/opening is a cataract friendly addition for more light inside the carrier for elderly pets, while being a easy access hatch for pets that need to be lowered into carriers. the handle is not designed to carry the loaded carrier by (personally I don’t try to carry the carrier while loaded. and have security straps and the included screws to use if I ever need to pick it up while loaded, or to fly with.I bought two of these 22″ carriers (because of the floor grate, which is what I remember carriers having years ago) one for an 8 week old puppy going through kennel training and the other for my 15+ year old geriatric dog in first stage renal failure. For the puppy, I had to block off half of the carriers until she grows and learns to keep a clean kennel.I have a RinseWorks Aquaus bidet/diaper sprayer and SprayMate diaper rinse bucket (ASIN : B018WLVS3G) that the 22″ carrier floor grate fits in for spraying to prevent splattering. I use a Sun Joe 24V-PWSCRB-LTW 24-Volt IONMAX Cordless Heavy-Duty Indoor/Outdoor Power Scrubber on slow for any scrubbing for floor grate or carrier as needed. I have used both disposable and washable pee pads in the carrier under the grate with great success.

PERFECT CARRIER!
I’ve always used a hard sided carrier to keep my cats safe in the car. This carrier was easy to put together, and there is more than enough room for an 11-12lb cat and his blanket. There would be room for a larger cat.I haven’t used the top door yet, but I used to have a cat who would only enter a carrier feet first! I would turn the carrier on end and slows drop him in. If I have that situation again, the top door would make it easier. Now, I can look through the top to see that my cat is ok.There is no such thing as a good, sturdy, inexpensive carrier anymore, but this one is good value for the money!There is a grate for the bottom if you are taking a long trip with your cat and need to use peepads.

Overall, great product to bring home a kitten or even a small puppy
Overall, great product for the price no way that our kitty cat could get out of it without us opening the door doors doors are a little stiff when opening and shutting, so if you need to put your cat in quickly that can prove to be challenging at times, but it is super easy to clean fit great when we brought him home but now that he’s getting bigger not fitting him quite so well I feel like it’s a little cramp

Safe and secure cat transport
Top loading is perfect for our cats. Sturdy, durable, well ventilated. The cats prefer to stay home, but if we need to take them, this carrier is great! That cats are 16+ lbs each, so they each get a carrier!

The screws were what I expected & side slots r a little wide
My biggest complaint with this is the screws are allen heads. Who carries an allen wrench with them? I suggest switching them out for something more user friendly. The side slots are a little wide and I wish it had the criss-cross design or something for added structure soundness. My cat’s foot can actually fit through the slits and that concerns me. The door also doesn’t seem that stable without the screws. The sliding clips that hold the top door in place seems a little skimpy on security. I somewhat wish there was another flap that would cover the top for added security & to keep things from falling into the create. My cat loves and spends the majority of her day in there. The openness of the carrier allows me to check in on her much easier. I do like it adds great air flow too.
