Honeywells 5808W3 is a 3V lithium powered, photoelectronic smoke/heat detector with a built-in wireless transmitter. It is intended for use with any 5800 Series Wireless Receiver/Transceiver for residential installations (for commercial installations, the 5881ENHC or the 5883H receiver is required).
The transmitter can send alarm, tamper, maintenance (when control panels are equipped to process maintenance signals), and battery condition messages to the systems receiver. Smoothing algorithms minimize nuisance alarms by smoothing out short term spikes from dust and smoke, virtually eliminating nuisance alarms.
Since there are no holes to drill or wires to run, you can preserve the beauty of the building while protecting it. The 5808W3 is an ideal smoke detector for those difficult to wire locations, applications where room aesthetics are critical, or where hazardous materials exist.
All models also feature a restorable, builtin, fixed temperature (135F) thermal detector that is also capable of sensing a pre-freeze condition if the temperature is below 41F.

Improved Robust RF Field Strength: The distance between the detector and receiver has been significantly increased without the need for a repeater
Smart Check: A signal is sent to the control panel when the detector requires cleaning. This allows a regular nonemergency service call to clean the detector before it goes into alarm.
Approved UL Listings for Residential and Commercial Applications: Both residential and commercial installation requirements are met
Additional LED Status Indicators: Identifying between alarm or trouble conditions is a snap with green and red LED status indicators. A green LED denotes a normal condition while the red LED indicates abnormal conditions.
Easy to install Mounting Base: The sturdy mounting base allows the detector to be more easily installed on uneven surfaces (i.e. stucco). The mounting base has larger mounting ports which accommodate drywall anchors for easy surface mounting.

    easy install, works great
Great addition and easy to install, not much more to say beyond the description. I added this to a LYNXR-EN system – programming the panel can be challenging if you’re not used to it, but that’s not the detectors fault. As noted in another review, this should be mounted before enrolling it.Tested with an incense stick and alarmed right away… and I was on the phone with the alarm company shortly there after. =)Did not test the heat function.** update 2014 **I’ve since moved on to a newer panel and love it! I’ve also ordered another one of these smoke detectors for the another room (3 total now). The others are still going strong! One is near both a bathroom and a wood stove and I’m happy to report it has NOT once false alarmed.

Replaced older model from 2009. Backplate is like 10 mm smaller so theres some wall edging that is a little rough. I will need to touch up around the device, however NO PAINT on device!! That is what ruined my other one. The painters were told not to pain it, therefore they removed the outer shell and painted over the back plate completely! Needless to say the adrenaline rose quickly upon the tampered failed unit I just had newly installed 2 days before painting. After trying to correct the tampered device, I was forced to purchase a new one based on Xfiniti’s professional recommendation. They finally returned yesterday to replace it and reconfigure my system with the new smoke detector. It works great and now feel updated and safe with my entire house wired. Today I install the Ring. Will write a review after a couple of weeks, but expect to hear good things on this device. Great replacement and Happy with the honeywell wireless smoke detector. Is a good value.!

Compatible with all systems that support 5800 series devices
I have a Honeywell Lyric alarm system in my house. I got this detector to add to my system. We decided to add a smoke detector in the garage because we charge an electric scooter out there and you just never know. It wasn’t code back in 1995 to put a smoke detector in the garage but the more we thought about it we decided it was important to add one there and hence this purchase. It was shipped in one day and I had it programmed and installed in 10 minutes. It came with a CR 123 battery and well written instructions for Installation, programming, set up and maintenance. This is a high quality heat and smoke detector that is NFPA approved and UL listed.

    Great Smoke and temperature detector
This is an expensive smoke detector. But, it is worth the money because it ties into my alarm system. Besides smoke it is also a temperature detector. It will let my alarm company know if it gets below freezing or if it gets too hot. I had a regular smoke detector, but it is in my little place in the country, so if it went off when I was not there no one would know. Now, with it hooked in to my alarm system I will be notified if it ever goes off where ever I am. Piece of mind and safety too.

Pairs with the L-5200 very easily – up and running in minutes
Pairs with the L-5200 very easily – up and running in minutes. Not very attractive design, and not the cheapest z-wave smoke detectors around, hence 4 out of 5, but I wanted something that would work with what I have – and it does.

    But wait, there’s more…
When we switched alarm system providers, the new company asked if we had any wireless smoke alarms hooked up to the system. I hadn’t even HEARD of such a thing! They explained that you could hook in a bunch of these throughout your house and then if there was an alert, the alarm monitoring company would notify us and the fire department, cutting minutes off of the response time.We immediately bought two, and will buy a few more just as soon as finances allow. Now here is the interesting part. Somehow the device knows when you have activated it, but not installed it.This was great incentive for my procrastinating husband, because activating it and then leaving it on the table made it go off! So instead of wating ages for him to install it “when he had time” it was done that day.Perfect. A smoke alarm that knows how to bust right through that procrastination cycle!

Works well with a few tips to program
Already had these in my house and they work great but wanted to add more. For the most part easy to install but here are a few tips that helped me:-If your alarm is monitored, be sure to call and have it put on “test”.-Some videos say to put your panel in programming mode and then open the cover on the smoke alarm which sends a signal and programs it. In my case it programmed the tamper alarm (opening the cover) as if that were the smoke alarm. It’s better to program it manually with the code on the unit.-Keypad programming is not fun on many systems including mine. If you have phone app or computer access to your system, try one of those. It’s much easier!
