Bright light not suitable for bedroom and the false alarms are a showstopper
These were an very easy install to replace the original hardwired smoke alarms in our house as I am planning to sell the house in spring and our state now requires both smoke and CO2 alarms when selling. And since we were moving, I just wanted to pass code for the least amount of expense.First issue was as others have said, the led light is ridiculously bright and kept me awake in the bedroom- wow unbelievable how that small green spot can light up a whole room. After one night we solved that problem by painting over the light with black enamel paint. But the real show stopper was the false alarms that started 4 months after install. We have a 3 level home and early one morning the alarms went off and told me smoke in the basement… NOT. I opened all the windows and doors to make sure the air was clean and they stopped. Then later in the day, they all went off again and said smoke on the top level… NOT. And then it kept telling me over and over there was smoke for over an hour until my hubby got home and was able to remove the alarm.Needless to say, ALL these alarms got unplugged We are living with no alarms now and I will have to figure out another product that will pass code for selling the house. Aside from our own livability in the interim, what prospective buyer will make an offer if the alarms go off for no cause when they are viewing the house? I don’t want to lose a sale because of these stupid false alarms. What a total waste of money and time with the insult of having to listen to the obnoxious LOUD false alarms!

Great detector soo far very bad for installation I wouldn’t buy again
The detector wasn’t hard to setup it is a nightmare to install. If the company reads this feel free to reach out and I will personally come and chew out the moron that came up with this. There are 3 little tabs that don’t have much for depth. That means if the small circular cutout goes into a slightly larger opening in the ceiling (what I replaced this will) it wont sit right. It becomes a game, do not use a non flat screw because there is little enough opening that you have to really screw in a non flat to get the plastic plate to bow out enough to get it to clip. They need to work with an Mech engineer to over build the backplate slightly so that your plastic clips can sit flush against a wall regardless of the opening left in the ceiling. mine sits barely recessed in which makes it very difficult to clip in. the previous plate had a non flat screw which made it worse.Won’t be using this one very long I will have to replace 8 more since we are at the 10 year mark.IF you buy:Get flat screws for your replacement, if you are switching brands most likely the previous brand didn’t require flat. Check the size of your opening if it is over sized you may want to look for a plastic backer (Note since everything is small you might see into the hole from the wrong angle. When installing look hard at the viewing angle. It doesn’t cover the cut out well. think about how it will be viewed so you don’t see into the ceiling.

False Alarms !!!!Bug Light!!!!!
!!!!Constant false alarms!!! !!!! Bug bait Trap!!!In the past 2 months of using we have had about 20+ false alarms!!!Why ? Let me explain.Originally when we begin using, it was hard to understand. We would go to sleep and in one specific room the alarm would go off setting off all throughout the house. Thinking that it might be a bad unit, I’ve swapped locations with another. Upon doing so the other unit also from the same location went off. Upon investigating, I realized the bright lights that emanate from the unit as well as emanating from the interior, is a bright green glow. I then realized this is perfect for attracting insects. Even though we attempted to allow minimal gnats inside from the porch light, a few would enter in. It only takes one. Often in the night when all lights are out, the glow from the smoke detector penetrates the night, attracting any insect in the vicinity to its location. The light that emits from the sides draws them to the inside of the unit. Who knew bugs would set off a smoke detector.. This week was the last straw, 3 false alarms in 3 different rooms on 3 different nights all while sleeping. You would think, man these guys should close a window, not leave the doors wide open, not have so many bugs in the house!!! Truth is at night you might see only a gnat or 2 that is in the house. There has never been a false alarm during the day, always been once all the lights were off while sleeping.. On one unit i decided to test my bug theory and opened it to look inside, well bout 30 gnats fell out!!!I need units that will indicate a problem only when a problem exists. If bugs couldnt set off would give 5 stars, love the talking feature!!

I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance and quality. The build is solid, it works exactly as advertised, and the setup was quick and hassle-free. The value for the price is outstanding, making it a smart choice for anyone looking to upgrade their toolkit or start a new project.I’ve tested it in multiple scenarios, and it consistently delivers great results. Whether for a hobby project or a more professional setup, it has earned a permanent spot in my collection. Highly recommend for its reliability, ease of use, and excellent value!

Installation was easy. The large diameter covered the box that the previous detectors needed. No patching required.

Upon reading the manual once I got the detector, I learn that :- It’s not a dual type fire detector; it’s a photoelectric sensor.- The reason it’s expensive seems to be that you can couple it to other units to create a network. So the point in choosing this detector would be to get more than one. Which makes it even more expensive.
