Best vacuum ever!
This is with out a doubt the most powerful vacuum I have ever used or owned. My last vacuum was a Shark Navigator lift away, which I still have, works great. there was nothing wrong with the vacuum, I just wanted a new one. The power detect however blows it out of the water! I used the Navigator two days before the new one arrived. When I used the new one I couldn’t believe how much dust and hair it removed from my carpet. If your looking for a new vacuum that’s powerful suction and cleaning I highly recommend the power detect! Amazing!

Excellent vacuum
This vacuum exceeds my expectations. I’m okay with the weight, which is the trade-off for having the most powerful motor money can buy. This vacuum has amazing performance on both hardwood floors as well as carpet. Using the lift away and the attachment, it was very easy to do the stairs. The power lift away works amazing. I was able to vacuum under a king sized bed which had not been vacuumed for 10 years. I love the length of the long cord which allows me to complete a floor without having to move to a different plug which I had to do with my old vacuum. Only slight negative. Is that the length of the hose in lift away mode is only about 3 ft which means you have to carry around the tank while you use it. I think an external hose can be purchased.

Next Level Vacuum
DuoClean Detect mode works great, It identifies and notifies you of edges as well as dirt and increases suction appropriately. Duo detect mode is also quiet on carpet until an edge or dirt is encountered. I really like how it automatically adjusts suction based on surface you are cleaning. The dual brush configuration provides fantastic results on wood and tile. It gets everything up on the first pass. Another great feature is the self cleaning brush roller. No more hair wrapping to clean out.On high traffic carpeted areas I simply change the setting to the low cut carpet mode to get maximum cleaning. The settings are conveniently located on the upper handle. Item to note: I have accidentally changed the settings occasionally because of the “touch pressure stye” buttons.Overall cleaning experience and performance is fantastic. My carpet and flooring is absolutely cleaner than what I was getting from my previous vacuum. The Shark PowerDetect is an expensive vacuum, but I think the value return is well worth the cost. I am very happy with the purchase.

This is a heavy beast
Good vacuum. Still better than Dyson, in my opinion. This beast is heavy tho. The roll seems a little stiff, which may be due to the weight. The tools still fall off all over the place, seems like no brand has figured out the solution to that.Improvements needed: the light turns off when you pull the wand off. It would be great if it would stay on so you can still see when in dark corners and hallways.I have to fight with the dust cup to put it back on. It just doesnt seem to align well. Or engage properly. My previous sharks didnt have this problem. Maybe mine is flawed.Speaking of dust cup, there is a plastic lip that partially surrounds the dust cup. When you are winding the cord back up when the dust cup is not in place, the cord slips into the area normally occupied by the dust cup. It gets caught up on this little lip of plastic. Putting the cup back on can be even harder than normal if youre not paying attention. Pretty minor one, but has gotten me a couple times now.Shark is still my go-to brand. This particular model didnt seem particularly different than their other higher tier models I’ve bought in the past. The suction is stronger though, which is the point. Overall a good vacuum, but I did get spoiled by my cordless stick version when it comes to the weight and ease of movement. But that broke 6 mos after purchase (different brand), so here I am back to a standard vacuum.

Why buy a Dyson when you could get a Shark
Amazing vacuum at an amazing price. Bought to replace Dyson and no regrets, suction is amazing easy to use and assemble. Would definitely recommend to anyone with animals have a cat and dog and picks up ALL hair with one pass.

Unbalanced, overheats, HEAVY
I was super excited for this vacuum because of all the raving reviews, but I hate it and am returning it.Cons:- Heavy – This thing is heavy! I am fit, 5’7, and lift regularly. I found myself sweating from pushing and pulling this thing in my two story carpeted house.- Cannot Handle Thicker Carpet – Like some reviews pointed out, the head pulls very strongly on thick carpet (which is unfortunately the majority of my home), and when using it the entire vacuum pulls forward. So much so that pulling it back was like doing a rows. If you take off the bin and hold it, the motorhead runs away on you. The vacuum is strong but works entirely against you.- Overheats – Using the power detect feature, I did 3 bedrooms and a loft of carpet floor, totaling maybe 1000 sf, and the motorhead overheated 3 times as indicated by flashing red lights and interrupted function. It would overhead basically after every room. The manual says you’re supposed to let it cool down for at least 60 minutes–by that logic it would take me more than 3 hours to complete vacuuming 3 bedrooms.- Unbalanced – The head swivels, but it’s so weirdly balanced that you have to strain your wrist and body to turn the vacuum and swivel the head to get in corners. Sure you can detach the motor but it’s heavy, awkward, and the hose is short and stiff–which leads to my next point.- Stiff Short Hose – I get that it’s meant to be convenient and allow you to detach the motor from the head, but the hose is incredibly stiff and just short enough to be impractical. I found if I leave the motor and body on the floor, the second I reach for anything with the hose I pull the whole thing over because the hose is so short. It’s also incredibly stiff and gets tauter with the suction on, so even if you hold the motor in one hand and the head in the other, you’re fighting the tension of the tight hose the entire time you’re using it for crevices and corners. Just horribly designed and incredibly difficult to use.- Long coarse and stiff cable – the power cable is incredibly long and very stiff unlike other vacuums I’ve used. This makes it tangle like crazy since it holds the shape of the folds it came with and difficult to work with since it’s also very rough and stiff.- From what I can see, there’s 2 spots to stick your hose attachments on the base of the bin/motor assembly. However, depending on the attachment, like the air powered upholstery brush, it will prevent pulling off the removable bin/motor.- Dust Bin / Filter – Finally, with all the cyclone vacuums on the market, it’s pretty disappointing to see a lack of dust separation here. Sure there the bin catches most things but the cheap little foam pad filter right before the motor got pretty nasty from one round of use around the house. I would imagine you need to wash that thing after every use to keep it clean, and it’d be just another extra cost for replacements. For the high end vacuum this tries to be, it’s a pretty disappointing and half-cocked design and execution.- Power Detect – Just another automated gimmick. Realistically, you have to wait a full second for it to detect edges and floor type and if you’re counting on the edge detection to boost suction on that side, you’ll have to wait for that pause before you start vacuuming along the edge. Not convenient enough to warrant the hype and extra cost at all.Overall, it has the power but almost every aspect of it is brutal to use and does NOT feel like a $550 “premium” vacuum. I’ve been disappointed by the quality and design of Shark vacuums in the past and this one is unfortunately no different. It’s a brutish product with lots of power but design and ergonomics just go out the window with its flaws and lacking ease-of-use.Would not recommend this at all for the price.

I have owned this vacuum now for over three years. I live with two Labs that shed contently and need to vacuum daily. I have owned at least seven different vacs over the past 40 years always living with multiple dogs. This vac has outperformed all the vacuums that I have used. It is so well engineered and thoughtfully put together. The suction is incredible the rollers never get bunged up or clogged with hair. The ease of removing the main body from the business end of the vac allows for easy access to under furniture or use on stairs, not to mention the extra reach from the power plug that is obtained at least 5more feet.Clean out is a breeze with the trap door on the bin and the additional top door opening. It is such a good vacuum that I purchased one as a bonus for my G.M. when she mentioned she was looking for a vacuum. Although the cost is more than a lot of vacs but not as munch as the cordless hyped alternatives under the “D****” brand.Buy this vac you will not regret it.
